How to improve vocabulary

cropped-oie_258428dkbpp8bs.jpgThe very first question that comes to your mind when you have to take an examination is “How will I write my paper when my vocabulary is not good?” For high level examinations like CAT, one needs to be strong with vocabulary in order to score well and to do so, you need to follow the below given steps:

• One must read a lot in order to improve vocabulary. Reading newspapers, novels, magazines etc help a lot to find and learn new words. You can jot down the words that sound new to you and try using them more frequently while you converse with other people in day to day life.

• You must keep a thesaurus or a dictionary handy so that whenever and wherever you are; you can immediately refer to it and remember using the new word. This way you start using these words as much as possible and get used to it.

• You must try engaging in debates or any other kind of conversations. This helps you to gain more knowledge and get acquainted with new words that you can easily add to your vocabulary. Doing this exercise also helps you gain confidence.

• You must indulge in playing some games that involve the usage of new words. This would also increase your interest in the activity further helping you to memorize these words very easily.

• You must learn at least one word a day. Pick up any random word that is not familiar to you. Write it down a several times on a piece of paper, try making sentences out of that word or use that word while conversing with people. This would help you to retain that word in your memory and not forget it ever.

Once you follow the above given points, you will finally have an answer to your question. You will be confidently able to say “I will write my paper!”
